The owners manual should be affixed to the outside of the box. Make sure to keep it before recycling the box. Cut the straps and open the box first.
Remove the seat/seatpost which is loose in the box before pulling the bicycle out. Everything else should be ziptied to the frame and will come out as one unit.
Remove all the zipties and foam from the bicycle. Pull the fender off the top of the tire and set aside. The crank is threaded through the spokes of the front wheel as seen below.
To easily get the wheel disengaged, spin the cranks counterclockwise until the cranks point towards the front of the bicycle instead of vertical/upwards. This will allow for the most amount of space to pull the wheel out. See below:
In the box, the fork and handlebar mast are spun backward, which means you will need to spin the assembly clockwise to correctly orient them. If you spin counterclockwise you will end up with the wires run the wrong way on the bicycle. The picture below depicts orientation inside the box.
The picture below shows the correct orientation of the fork. The handlebars were also passed under the frame to the other side of the bicycle. Notice the light on the front side of the fork and the handlebar mast on the right/drive side of the frame.
When oriented correctly the fork angles towards the front and the brake caliper on the fork is on the left/non drive side of the frame.
Lift the handlebar mast into the vertical position as seen below:
Snap the closing lever shut. There should be distinctive click when it is closed all the way.
If the closing lever is too tight or loose, the silver hexagonal linkage in the picture below is used to adjust the proper tension on the closing latch.
Open the stem clamp quick release lever and turn the knurled knob to take apart the quick release assembly.
Note the position of the brash shim under the lever and the silver washer near the knurled knob underneath.
The stem face place slides out sideways.
The mounting clamps on the display are not wide enough apart to pass the stem face plate into the proper groove, so temporary removal of the display is necessary. Using a 3mm allen wrench, take the bolts out seen below. Be careful not to lose the nyloc nut on the underside of the display mount.
Lay the handlebar onto the open handlebar mast as seen below.
Slide the face plate into the round groove.
Dont forget the brass shim before the quick release bolt/lever are reinstalled. Round side towards the rear of the bicycle.
Fold the quick release lever closed and turn the knurled knob until its tight. Then open the lever and turn the knurled knob 1/4-1/2 turn more and close the quick release lever. The lever should close with some force, but not require a ton of strength.
Reinstall the display as seen below:
Insert the seat post into the frame. Use the same method as above to get the correct tension on the quick release seat collar.
Undo the fender/light mounting bolt.
Note that two washers are most likely both installed on the front end of the bolt. Remove one of those to use on the nut end of the assembly in the next step.
The upper fender tab will be mounted on this bolt. As seen below the correct sequence is bolt, washer, light, fender tab, fork, washer, and nut.
Push the fender all the upwards in the crock of the fork and tighten the hardware as seen below.
It will be easier to install the rest of the fender hardware after the front wheel is installed. This will elevate things off the ground for easier access. Insert the quick release skewer through the front axle. Note there is a cone shaped spring on either end of the hub and the wide end faces outwards (away from the hub) as seen below.
Lift the front of the bicycle so you can slide the wheel into the fork. Focus on getting the brake rotor into the brake caliper and the axle will follow into the fork drop outs. Once the wheel is in the fork drop outs you can fold down the kickstand and the bicycle will support itself.
To properly tension the skewer, fold the quick release lever closed, turn the knob on the other side until its tight. Then open the quick release lever and turn the knob another 1/2 to full turn and close the lever again. Proper (high enough) tension is important here as disc brakes can cause the wheel to come out of the fork under braking action if the skewer is not tight enough. Make sure the wheel is centered in the fork in order to ensure there is no brake rub.
Note the quick release lever is folded up in a direction that keeps it out of the way of the brakes. The skewer can also be installed so that the quick release lever is on the other side if it is preferred by the end user.
Install the lower fork struts to the bolt found at the fork drop outs.
Install the pedals into the cranks. Keep in mind that the pedals are side specific and therefore are also labeled L and R. You can find those markings on the inside of the pedal spindle. It is very hard to read as its small. The reason this is important is that the LEFT pedal is reverse threaded and if the pedals are installed on the wrong side the crank arm threads will be damaged.
The trick here is that the right pedal is regular thread and the left pedal is reverse threaded.
